The Part of the Story I Don't Usually Tell
This issue is a little different. No frameworks this week. The topic is me, which is not a sentence I type comfortably.
I was recently a guest on The Happy Clients Podcast, and the host got me talking about something I rarely write about here: how SchneiderB Media actually started.
If you have ever wondered how someone goes from sitting inside a school to running an agency that serves them, this is that story. The honest version is that there was no clean moment. I wanted to do this for a long time before I did it. I was afraid, and I had practical reasons to stay put. Healthcare kept me on the fence longer than any strategic question did.
Some of these stories I had never said out loud before. Vulnerable is probably the right word. But they are true, and if you have ever sat with a decision like that, I think they will land.
The episode is called "Get Help Before You Think You Need It," which is the lesson I learned the slow way. I assumed asking for help was something you earned after you had things figured out. It is actually how you figure things out. If you are a department of one, you know that pattern.
The whole conversation is about 21 minutes:

If you listen, hit reply and tell me what surprised you. I am curious what comes back on this one.
What have you been trying to figure out alone that you could ask for help with this week?
Thanks,
Brendan

School Marketing The Right Way

Most school marketers learned this job by doing it. Nobody handed you a playbook on day one, so you pieced one together from conference sessions, blog posts, and trial and error.
School Marketing The Right Way is the book I wish someone had handed me. Fourteen chapters that start with market analysis and personas, work through the digital channels, and end with analytics and AI, plus templates you can put to work the same week. New to the role or twenty years in, it will spare you some of the trial and error.
