It is Monday, May 25. Memorial Day.
Somewhere in your town, a flag is at half-staff. A family is standing in front of a name carved into stone.
Today is for the people who do not get to come home for the long weekend. For the families whose chair at the cookout has been empty for a year, or a decade, or longer than any of us has been doing this work.
Thank you to anyone who has served, or whose family carries that loss.
