Text Messaging for School Marketers
Today is all about text messaging in school marketing, to text or not to text? Angie and Matt are joined by Corey Pudhorodsky of Community Brands, who has been helping organizations utilize technology to achieve their goals for over twenty years.
Throughout this talk, we discuss: + Where text messaging fits in communicating with both prospective and enrolled families. + How to balance text messaging with other communication tools + Common mistakes to avoid in messaging + Choosing the right tools to get started
Corey mentions that 98% of text messages are read, so this is an important topic for your school to consider, and make sure you’re getting right!

Understanding the Decision Phase of the Family Journey
In my previous two blog posts, I discussed the Awareness and Consideration Phases of the Family Journey. This model has been developed by Andy Lynch, President and CEO of North Star Marketing.
We will be using the framework of the Family Journey for our discussion at our Geeks on the Road Workshop in Orlando. 52 enrollment and marketing geeks from 29 schools in 15 states and 2 provinces will gather in Orlando for the first “Geeks on the Road” Workshop. When Andy and I began planning this workshop, our hope was that 20 would attend. We are thrilled with this interest, and we are looking forward to a great workshop. Our plan is that this will be the first of many workshops that we will host in the future!

Building Teams
We are committed to teams. Many of us spend Friday night or Saturday afternoon rooting for our school’s football team. Likewise, if we have our own children, we shuttle them to their sports activities so they can be on teams. We read the sports pages, following our favorite teams’ exploits. We claim to cherish the camaraderie and teamwork that is requisite to any team’s success.
5 Steps to Success for New Leaders
I see announcements for new heads of school and administrators nearly every day from my colleagues that conduct leadership search and placement efforts for independent schools. Leaders are on the move. In the excitement and promise of a new vantage point and hope for the organization's future, I cannot help but wonder what these new leaders will face.
In my work, I believe in listening. I listen to the people with the most power at the school, those with none, and those in between. In doing that, I can learn the school's strengths and value proposition, where there is confusion or indecision, and whose agenda is driving decision-making.
